Intermodal Network Update for Friday, August 18, 2023

Date
Aug 18, 2023

OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE
BNSF operating teams are focused on maintaining positive performance momentum throughout the remainder of August. Overall, average car velocity increased by over four percent versus the prior week and over three percent versus the prior month. Terminal dwell also improved versus the prior week and month. Our local service compliance measure, exceeding 91 percent, reflects improved effectiveness in handling carload freight.

SERVICE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE WEEK AHEAD
Favorable operating conditions are expected across much of the network going into the upcoming week. Rainfall and flash flooding will be possible across the Southwest this weekend as Hurricane Hilary approaches off of the western coast of Mexico. BNSF teams will continue to closely monitor for any weather-related impacts and take appropriate precautions to operate safely. With potential impacts to the Southern California region, our teams are also working closely with partners at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to minimize intermodal service interruptions. For the rest of the BNSF network, no major service interruptions due to weather are anticipated at this time.

We thank you for your business and appreciate the opportunity to serve as your transportation service provider. We welcome your feedback and questions.
