Transportation
The Transportation Department is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of trains and the movement of customer freight from one destination to another.
Part of these responsibilities include:
- Supervising train operations in a designated territory while monitoring and managing costs
- Interfacing and coordinating with operating departments, including Dispatchers and Yardmasters, to execute the operations plan
- Supervising train, yard and engine employees and operations in compliance with all applicable rules, regulations and policies
Work in the Transportation Department is a 24 by 7 operations environment including nights, weekends, evenings and holidays, on call or available for emergency situations. Employees work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
The Transportation Department is approximately 19,000 employees strong.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience in a business management, operations and/or logistics environment
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, Logistics, Business Administration or Management
- Strong working knowledge of federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, FRA, and EEO)
